Several of you had problems with GnomeMeeting behind NAT. There were not many solutions : RSIP, Newnat patch (buggy with GnomeMeeting), Gatekeeper as a proxy.
GnomeMeeting 0.94 has been delayed of a few days because a new solution was found (thanks to Roger for the idea) : IP Translation.
You can choose in the GUI to enable or not IP Translation to the IP of the NAT/PAT router, you can also specify the IP to translate to. But if you register to ils.seconix.com, the ILS service will be used to determine the IP to use.
I just uploaded 2 nice screenshots that show the possibilites of multi-user videoconferences using GnomeMeeting. The second screenshot shows a pic of my monitor with GnomeMeeting running in fullscreen. Here are the screenshots:
Hardware problems seems to be recurrent on seconix.com. We are trying to isolate the problem, but after having exchanged most of hardware components, crashes still happen. We will now reinstall the server from scratch using new hardware components. That way, a new server could be up and running on monday. Once the problematic hardware component will have been identified, we will replace it and reintegrate all the other components in the new server. We are doing our best (especially David), thanks to be patient and to contact me using sandras_AT_info.ucl.ac.be.
GnomeMeeting 0.93.1 has been released. It has been packaged for all distributions. Suse packages are coming soon (0.93.0 remains available in the downloads for SUSE). It is a minor bugfix release. If you had no problems with 0.93.0, there is no need to upgrade, but if you had some crashes or freezes due to the artsd suspend code, then that release is for you!
Mandrake Cooker RPMs of GnomeMeeting 0.93.0 have been added in the download section. Thanks Florin! Enjoy!
I started coding again on GnomeMeeting, you can test the nightly snapshots and report bugs.
We would also like to get reports about the stability of GnomeMeeting. How often do you use it and how stable is it for you? Thanks a lot!
GnomeMeeting 0.93.0 is ready to be released. Translations have been updated and there are a lot of new features. You can expect a new release soon, when the packagers are back from holidays and when packages are ready for the usual linux distributions.
